Bali Dynasty Resort is proud to announce the opening of its splendid new Lobby, which has been completely transformed at the cost of more than half a million dollars to create a prestigious first impression to a well respected hotel. The architecture and d?cor is now contemporary in style, yet it still pays homage to the Balinese culture with indigenous materials, locally made furnishings and hand crafted accessories. The Lobby has been considerably lightened up to give it a more spacious, modern feel, with decorative details that are both elegant and edgy in their design.
The first thing that visitors will notice is the exterior of the building and the new porte-cochere. The fa?ade and pillars showcase Singaraja stacked slate, complemented by teak latticework at the entrance, together with a teakwood ceiling and skylight to the porte-cochere.
Entering the Lobby, visitors are greeted by a myriad of textures. Numerous local materials have been incorporated into the modern tropical design; the most notable architectural features being the smooth creamy-white ?Batu Yogya? random stone walls, enhanced by teak strip wood, bevelled andesite rock and yet more of the beautiful stacked slate from Singaraja in North Bali. The cool red granite floor is bordered in black; the central polished wood staircase has been widened and redesigned in accordance with the principals of Feng Shui, and ceilings have been painted a fresh white to draw the eye upwards into the soaring timber panelled roof. Guest Relations and Group Check-in counters have been replaced with mega teak and polished granite desks, lit by gleaming stainless steel table lamps that show off the smart new staff uniforms. The new Reception Counter and the Bell Service Counter are both fashioned in polished black granite flecked with spangles of gold, complete with cleverly recessed lighting and a classic filigree motif that has been carried through to the stainless steel signboard stands. In fact, stainless steel is an accessory that can be seen throughout the Lobby from the efficient ceiling fans right down to the base of each cream terrazzo pillar. Stainless steel ottomans are finished with deep leather cushions; five steel clocks remind guests of the time in the rest of the world, and a pair of fretwork spherical lamps highlights the talent of Chen, the Javanese-born stainless steel sculptor and creative energy behind ?Chenergy?.
A precious feature is the new bar, located in ?D Lounge?, at the western end of the Lobby. This chic, fully equipped bar is constructed of teakwood, and characterised by a graceful white onyx counter and a hi-tech LED lighting system that gyrates through the colours of the rainbow. Stylish furnishings in D Lounge include comfortable cushioned wicker and woven leather sofas and chairs, and top quality teakwood drinks tables. This is a great spot in which to relax with a sundowner cocktail, watch the activities in the lobby, or access e-mails via the wireless internet connection. More latticework screens at this side of the Lobby ensure cool cross-ventilation and a clear, open-air view into the Resort?s gorgeous gardens. It is here that guests will also be entertained by acoustic piano music emanating from the ?Disklavier? grand piano with its invisible piano player. The colour theme in D Lounge is a regal purple and white, harmonised by the hues of fresh orchids galore.
The new Lobby, together with the new Studio Rooms, marks the completion of the first stage of Bali Dynasty Resort?s extensive modernisation programme.
